Back2School LAX Jam Rules
All games will follow current US Lacrosse Youth/NFHS Rules with the below noted modifications.
● Extremely rough play (consistent fouling), disrespect of officials, and foul language will NOT be tolerated by any player, coach or spectator.
● The maximum number of players allowed for any one game is 9
● The person at the scorer’s table MAY NOT coach from the scorer’s table. Goalies may play for multiple teams at a tournament but must be of the appropriate age/grade division.
● Game: Games will be (2) 10-minute running halves, 2-minute halftime, time kept on the field by volunteers. If there is a significant delay, the official on the field may stop time
● All Teams MUST have at least ONE ADULT (18 or older) on the bench at all times, maximum of 2 adults.
● A team that does NOT have a volunteer (16 or older) at the scorer’s table will play a man down until they have someone at the table.
● Competitiveness Rule- When a team has a 5 or more goal deficit, they may add a 6th field player
● Ball Out of Play on the Sideline: A ball thrown/dropped out of bounds (sideline) by one team becomes the other team’s ball. Defense must give 4 meters distance. Goals cannot be scored directly from out of bounds they are all indirect but self starting.
● Ball Out of Play on the endline: A ball that goes over the endline becomes the goalie ball, regardless if it is a shot or pass, regardless of who is closest to the ball when it goes out of bounds. All goalie balls are free clears and can not be passed beyond midfield.
● There is no 3 second foul
● There IS dangerous propel/dangerous follow through foul
● 3/4 Girls will have 2 pass rule in effect
● Face-off/Draw: Each half and OT begins with a face-off/draw. All players must remain behind the goal line extended until possession is gained (release is called via ref’s whistle). The goalie must remain in the crease area until possession is signaled. All players are released upon whistle.
● After a goal is scored, the ball is awarded to the scored upon goalie who puts the ball in play on a free clear in their own half of the field. Goalies can not cross mid field.
● Checking
○ Boys – NO BODY CHECKING PERMITTED
○ Girls
3-4: NO CHECKING
5-6: Modified checking
7-8: Transitional checking
● All on-field calls are final.
● All player substitutions are on the fly from the midline area.
● Any player, coach, or spectator using derogatory language on the field or bench when addressing a player, coach or referee may receive a yellow card. Third offense will be expulsion from the tournament.
● Coaches are responsible for their team and parents. All spectators are expected to show good sportsmanship and sit across the field on the side of their own team.
● Spectators are prohibited from entering the field of play at any time during the match.
Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event. ● If lightning is in the area, play will be suspended by ref on the field. A 30 – minute delay will go into effect from the last sighting of lightning. Tournament committee will decide if game(s) will be altered or canceled due to weather/lightning. Standard procedure will apply before play is resumed.

● Scoring:
● At the end of each game, the referee and coaches MUST agree on the final score before it is entered as “Official” and sign the official score card 3 POINTS FOR A WIN / 1 POINT FOR A TIE
● MAX GOALS IS +5 FOR ANY ONE GAME
● Three or More Team Tiebreakers (Once Tiebreaker is broken, go to Two Team Tiebreakers)
1. Record vs. other teams in the tiebreaker
2. Goal Differential (Max +5 per game)
3. Goals Against
4. Goals Scored (Max +5 per game)
5. Coin Toss
● Tournament Directors and officials’ decisions are final and no protests are allowed.
● Playoff Overtime: If teams are tied at the end of regulation. There will be a sudden victory overtime period that begins immediately. Teams shall stay on the same sides and no coaching is allowed prior to the start of overtime.
● Inclement Weather– We will do everything we can to conduct the tournament and may even delay the first few games or have an abbreviated schedule.
● Proper equipment MUST be worn at all times.
● All games will be started PROMPTLY. Please make sure your team is ready to take the field when the previous game ends.
● All Teams must be uniform in their apparel. It is recommended that teams wear matching pinnies/reversible. If the referee determines that two teams have similar colors, the team listed as the HOME team on the schedule must change to a different color.
